When it comes down to it, New Order epitomizes the 80s. Their synth sound leaves absolutely no question that they fit right in with the hair and neon cut off sweatshirts of the 80s. Here's what most consider to be their "standard".
"Bizarre Love Triangle" - New Order
What a feel good video. General Public crawled out of the remnants of The English Beat. Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger went on to form GP, while some other guys went on to form The Fine Young Cannibals. FYC had a couple of hits, but they won't be on this page. Sorry, I just don't like them. Anyway, here's "Tenderness" by General Public.
"Tenderness" - General Public
I have been to two Kiss concerts in my life. One was in Toronto in 1996 and one was in Nashville, TN in 1997 (I think. I don't remember a lot of that concert.). I have always been a fan of theirs, and I have to admit that it's the make-up that leads to the mystique. I was going to put "Lick It Up" here, but I decided to go with a "make-up" song instead. Cool video considering the year.
"I Love It Loud" - Kiss
Believe it or not, Canada was a melting pot of New Wave groups in the 80s. The video here is from one such band. Strange Advance was our Flock Of Seagulls, and their music didn't suck.
"We Run" - Strange Advance
Pretty In Pink. That's all I have to say. Everyone knows this next song from the movie, and can't help think of Molly Ringwald when it comes on. Ahh, just watch the video. I could go on forever.
